The Let’s Read Together for 10 Minutes programme was first organized in 2014 and was held with the cooperation and participation of all members of the Council of Directors of Malaysian State Public Libraries, Ministry of Education, State Education Department, the National Library of Malaysia, State Secretary’s Office, federal Secretary’s Office, departments, government and non-government agencies, schools, universities, private sectors, NGOs and members of the public.
The programme aims to encourage the Malaysian people to read, starting with the first step for 10 minutes simultaneously from 11 am until 11.10 am that day, as a sign of the commitment of all parties to the interests of reading in life and then continuing the reading practice for 10 minutes every day. This annual programme is also to welcome the World Book and Copyright Day.
